If you sit at a computer for many hours of the day you are at high risk for chronic neck and shoulder pain. This is due to the less than optimal position of the body at the desk and also the length of time spent in this position. The arms are usually held forward, the chin is often tucked, the legs are crossed creating a twist in the pelvis. Often the shoulder of the mouse hand is down and forward with the opposite shoulder held high. This keeps the muscles of the neck and shoulder on the high side in contraction. This is made worse if you hold the phone between your ear and shoulder with any regularity.
