Hair Stylists
This profession is notorious for creating tension in the neck and shoulders. This is caused by holding the arms up for hours every day. Muscles that run from the shoulder to the neck are in contraction for much of the day as they hold the arms up. These muscles pull on the vertebrae where they attach to the neck and over time can even result in pulling the bones out of alignment. In any event the tops of the shoulders will be knotted and painful. Because the arms are held in front of the body continuously throughout the day, the shoulder blades tend to wing out to the side creating tension in the upper arms and a deep ache in the whole shoulder blade.
